A Malayalam Edition of Culture Cards? Help us make it.

There is a Malayali nurse, engineer, or Gulf worker in every corner of the globe — Kerala exports people with the same confidence it exports coconut oil — and the diaspora they've built carries a very specific cultural fingerprint. A Malayalam Edition of Culture Cards would be for those families: the ones with a full Onam sadya served on banana leaf with seventeen dishes in precise order, the ones where someone's uncle lived in Dubai for twenty years and came back with a gold chain and a lot of opinions, the ones who can name three Catholic churches, three toddy shops, and a Marxist organization all within walking distance of the family home.

Malayali humor is dry, self-aware, and deeply invested in the absurdity of its own rituals. The devotion to cinema, the specific pride of literacy and education, the warmth that lives inside even the most stoic family gathering — a game that captures all of that would be something the community would pass around at every Vishu and Christmas party for years. Cards that might be in the deck

Describe your family's Onam sadya: how many dishes, who sat where, and what happened if you reached for the payasam too early.
Name the Gulf country your family has the most connections to and explain why it was specifically that one.
Do your best impression of a Malayali parent explaining to their child why a 98% exam score needs further analysis.
Everyone at the table: what is the one Mohanlal movie your family has seen so many times you could recite scenes on demand?
What is the official family position on coconut oil — in cooking, on hair, as medicine, and as a general life philosophy?

Just a taste — the real deck would be shaped with the Malayalam community.
